    UE32C5100 Standby Only

Hi all I have the following TV which I'm trying to repair. I'm only getting 5v standby on the output of connector CNM801 (pin 16). No other voltages present and TV won't come out of standby. Both fuses are fine and I've also checked the backlights are working and they are fine.

    PSU - BN44-00351B

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Disconnect the mainboard and connect pin 16 to pin 18 using a 1K resistor. Then check you have all the voltages on that connector.

Sorry can't seem to find a 1K only one I have found is a surface mount one. I'll need to order some up. Unless there is another option. Thanks

Something close. I have just jumped direct and haven't had a problem. But better to bring voltage down with resistor

Go around to any local electrical repair shop and scrounge some.

The value can be anything from 330~1000 Ohms, it is to limit the current in case the connection is made wrong.

On many set you can jumper without a resistor but unless you have the circuit diagram in front of you it can actually cause damage.

Thanks all I'll be grabbing a few things from Maplins on way home today so will also get a few resistors also. And see how I get on later. (Hopefully can repair it as I've noticed a few on the bay for £50+, don't fancy forking that out tbh.!!)

                Thanks again.

How are you trying to power on? With remote, power button on tv. With everything plugged in do you get anything on PS when you push button?

Those voltages all look fine except for Pin 2 (DET) which I'm unsure of what value it should be.

So once again disconnect the mainboard and connect pin 16 to pin 18 using a 1K resistor and also a 1K resistor between pin 16 to pin 4 (Backlights On) and see if the backlights come on?

I've just re-read your first post and you say that the backlights are working.
Put the resistors to one side for now and reconnect your mainboard and check the dc voltage at Pin 18 when in standby and when you attempt to take it out of standby and post results.

                              Re: UE32C5100 Standby Only

When I connect the TV back up and apply power, I get basically 0v then it jumps to 0.7v on pin 18 and does this every 3/4 seconds, no response from remote or touch power sensor. When I disconnect power the DC voltage slowly drops from 0.7v to 0v

You may have a bad voltage regulator on main board. Maybe some good pictures of main board.

It looks like you are not getting PWR_ON from the main board so whatever the problem is it's not the power supply.
Some good photo's of your mainboard would be good.

heh guys, plugged it all in and run a hairdryer over the mainboard and within 30 seconds tv booted up fine, so most definitely mainboard issue....
