    Dell 2408WFP

I have 2 Dell 2408WFP monitors. For the past few days when I turn one of them on in the morning for the first time it appears to be 20-30% dimmer and within 10-15 minutes it gets brighter and remains that way until I shut it off for the night. I haven't opened it up yet. Just wondering what the symptom could be.

Description suggests bad caps. With the back off try heating the boards gently with a hairdrier to see if you get it brighter quicker.
    Welcome to the forum-
We can often help a lot more if you please post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back (in the same orientation) and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

It will be useful if you can say a bit about yourself - skills tools etc.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Could also be old tubes. Room temperature also affect fluorescent tubes brightness at startup.

Try starting it and going to an all white screen. Notice any pinkish hue? If so, I'd bet on the tubes starting to weaken.

Not sure of the style used in the 2408, but the 2407 uses 6 "U" bend tubes @ $20 each.

Sorry I havent had time to open the unit up. This morning when I was using the monitor it had green dotted horizontal lines and the screen was moving left and right. When I read a pdf with a gray background the green horizontal lines disappear but the screen still shakes left to right. What does this sound like?

Does anyone have a service manual for it?

Johnnydiaz, let me know if you can confirm it's bad tubes. If so I may be able to help you with the leftovers of my 2408.
