            Hi mate,

If the Motherboard charging LED is orange (Please check current pull up - it should be more than 1 amps) then charging circuit is good. The next thing you need to check Coil PL46 and PL47 for 3.3 and 5 Volts respectively - If yes go to U16 (EC / SIO chip) Check pin 117 :PBTN OUT# it should read 3.3 Volts. If yes press the power button and check Pin 13 (PLT RST) it should give 3.3 volts output for turn ON. If no voltage from pin 13 check SPI bios (re-flash) first and then replaced SIO chip.

            Cheers

Re: Acer aspire 5742z no power / dead

Check voltage 3.3 Volts on the power button - If yes : press the power button and see the voltage drops to 0 volts - If yes the power button circuit is OK. Check the bios and EC.

                  Cheers

in JLED1 connector, momentarily short pin 7 and pin 8.

pin 7 should have 3.3v or 17v. if no voltage is found, you probably don't have +3VALW.

Hi I am having a problem on this same board. 19V input connector shows 19V ok. Led 3 is blinking. On PL42 it show power fluctuation. its going down from 19V to 16V, 13V, 10V, 9V. I found a cap PC1011 is short circuited and i replaced it. but the problem still. I replaced PU17, PU1000 also but problem not solved. anyone having any idea ?
