    Leaking Capacitor?

    Excuse my ignorance, is this enough evidence of a leaking capacitor.?
    If not whats happening?
    I would like to RMA this motherboard.

      Looks more like someone dripped thermal paste on it, if you wipe the residue off the cap are there any splits in the casing? That is a polymer cap (well functional polymer), those very rarely fail/leak, especially on a brand new board.

        Thanks for replies, I will inspect further, the last 2 weeks the board fails to boot after a few hours unplugged from power without messing around with the bios/psu. Its just plays dead, no life at all. Have tried three different quality power supplies to no avail. When it does eventually boot the PC tends to behave normally, but I have had 2 random reboots (no bsod) the same evening after the pc had been on a 3-4 hours. It doesnt get a lot of use. Maybe a couple of hours a day. Mobo is only 18 mths old. Its the first time I have paid big dollaros and its the only one thats played up on me. I usually go the best value, but splashed out. Go figure!

          Looks like it was tim, Iit was soft and pliable, cleaned it off as best I could, Well that was embarrasing!
