    Lenovo ThinkVision L201p - Dead

    Hei

Today my screen started flickering, thinking maybe the power cord was coming loose I tried to push at it and then I heard a small bang and the display went completely dead. I opened it and found the 450v capacitor with one leg blown. I replaced the 5 other caps a few years ago.

So is all i need to do is replace the 450v? or is it something else too that needs to be fixed?
Can you recommend a 450v 150uf capacitor to buy?

It may have more components damaged, but yes, the main filter capacitor needs to be replaced.

        Replace 03ohm resistor
test other resistor with shrink tube
        test flat capacitor

My multimeter is not at home, so must test tomorrow.
The resistor in shrink tube 100k ohm. The one capacitor that was pushed down and I have not replaced before is 50v 22uf. Thinking of replacing that with Panasonic FM and main with Rubycon TXW. Sounds ok?

          will test more tomorrow.

As main filter, most caps will do the job, even if you recycle the main caps of an ATX psu.

              mosfet popped the .3 resistor.
cap likely failed and caused mosfet failure.

yes, mosfet and 0.3 resistor was bad after testing with multimeter. 100k ohm resistor seems ok. waiting for parts now

Finally got the mosfet today. Tried plugging it in, but would not turn on (no led light). Measured the voltage on the big filter cap soon after pluging in AC and got 5v and climbing slowly up. (1v every 2-3 sec)

Did you measure the DCV between the two legs of that main filter cap?
Meter set correctly to dcv? to get only 5V you must have real bad problem from the AC in all the way through the bridge rectifier and to the cap.

right after I put AC on I can measure under 1v, but its climbing pretty fast. Then it slows down and eventually it takes 3sec between 18.53-18.54 etc..

ok. looked at the service manual etc. and did some more tests…
Tested the bridge rectifier in circuit and it looked bad, desolderd it and now it looked ok.
So then I desolderd the fuse and it looks blown after testing with multimeter.

The fuse is a 2A 250V WICKMANN. It's not very available so can this http://www.ebay.com/itm/5pcs-Thermal...6yBxEj23DNQy5g work?
This is the datasheet on original fuse:

Use a standard 2A 250V fuse, at least temporarily

with a working fuse I get ca 330v on the filter cap, but the board does not work..

if you have no output voltages, check the pink resistor shown in the first photo, check or replace the small primary electrolytic cap,, check the power on contitions for the PWM controller (the small 8 pin chip).

IC901 SMPS IC is more likely to be damaged when the MOSFET went out.

Finally got some replacement ic901. It was almost impossible to remove without a heat gun as it had a lot of glue underneath. Finally got it off, but managed to destroy pad nr 7. Looked at the service manual. (page 24, LD7552)

Where should I solder a wire from pin7 too? D904?
