LG 3DTV 47LW5700 full screen of artifacts on power on

today, when my mom turned on her tv to watch the dark knight rises on tv, the picture was fine for a few mins at first, then it deteriorated to a full screen of artifacts like an abstract art painting as shown in the attachment. i tried power cycling the tv but it still turns on and displays the lg logo as a screenful of artifacts. after we tried running the tv for 15 mins, the picture cleared up a bit but it was still very wavy and liney.

any idea whats wrong with the tv? i only encountered artifacting problems like this when my computers had a gpu that died. could it be either bad caps or a cracked solder joint since the artifacts cleared up a bit when the tv heated up for awhile?

did she watch it with 3D ?

if yes or no, took the tv out from the plug for long time, to reset T.CON

Panel fault IMO. Try reflowing motherboard.

hard reset enough by IN_Start from any Android Mobile with IR sender..

no she watched it in 2d. it was an analogue OTA broadcast.

exactly how long is "long"? i tried unplugging it till the standby light went out for about 30 mins and turned it back on but still a similar artifact pattern.

order menu by RC, if it show make factory reset, if not show menu

use In_STOP then put code 0413 TV will go standby them after while you turn it on.

Try reflowing the motherboard I bet the Bga solder is failing as you said it cleared up.
