    Bad caps in FSP FX700-GLN

Bad caps have brought down an Epsilon series 700W supply. Culprits are 8x20mm 6.3V 2200uF CapXon KF series units.

Unit shut down gracefully and was nice enough to spare the dual Opteron server.

Said server now has a Seasonic S12 650...which is full of UCC caps. The FSP unit will be recapped and held on as a spare.

    recapped seasonics are good.

could you please post pictures of the dead one so we can assess quality and value of a potential recap. some are worth it, others are not (aka deer, a-power, etc.)

There are pics inside the PSU quality thread IIRC.....It's definitely worth a recap!

Save for a few bummer caps an FSP FX700-GLN is a great PSU.
I use one for testing dual xeon server boards.
It's one of those that uses a higher switching frequency [so smaller xfmers] and double components of the silicon [diodes, rectifiers, ect] so less heat and smaller heatsinks.
