I have followed some of the threads from this forum and replaced broken capacitors on the power and inverter board, and 3 voltage regulators [1 on usb and 2 on video input board] on my fpd2485. This fixed 2 problems of mine: unreliably turning on, and able to detect signal after a period of no signal [eg. waking computer from sleep].
However, after I changed the broken caps, but before I replaced the voltage regulators, the monitor suffered a power surge during an electrical storm. Now all of the on screen display is extra wide. The gateway logo and menu are both stretched horizontally and ugly. Everything else seems to works fine. vga and dvi inputs are normal and not stretched.
Also in the process of replacing the parts, my touch panel has stopped working. No lights or response. I am wondering if others have been able to fix this by replacing the ribbon.
