    Neon lamp ballast resistor value?

Got a few neon lamps I thought about tinkering with but they need a ballast resistor to keep them from going poof.

Anybody know off the top of their head what value I need to use on 115v mains?

It depends on which one you are using, NE-2 is commonly used.

        100K is typical.
        Is it plugged in?

The current the lamp uses will change the brightness a little, BUT it will change the lifetime of the bulb drastically; i.e. high current = short lifetime, low current = longer lifetime.
