New power board but still 2 sec before black

I've read numerous posts with similar problems and hope I can get a handle on what's ailing my Westinghouse LCM-22W3. Eventually only show: green led and desktop for ~2 sec, then black/nothing. Reboot would give same. After a few min led switches to orange.

I've fixed an lcd before (thanks badcaps). Replaced some caps on power board but got messy, so ordered a compatible DAC-19M005 replacement for my DAC-19M010.

With new power board: now upon boot I get (green led) & ~2 sec of desktop, then black (using VGA, or dongle: no true DVI cable). I can tell using a flashlight the screen is getting no image. There are no sounds.

Q1: Anyone think the DAC-19M005 is worth keeping? A post on another site says problem may only be a difference in the current protection circuit (replace one component?). Other posts surmise this problem is due to backlight issues.

I could return the DAC-19M005 and look for a 19M010 but imagine that also might give wrong current. Personally I'm smelling backlight issues.

    These posts appear useful:

but diodes and backlight parts start confusing me.

Any feedback would be most appreciated.

    Thanx,

Hey I actually think I can see 'the image' but still unsure if the power board is worth keeping. I'll t-shoot using the 2 sec to black page I found but would love to hear from others who a) found it was the 'inverter' on the power board or b) fixed backlight on a similar display due to this symptom.

Thanks again for any interest : |

"After a few min led switches to orange." Do you have it connected to running PC?

Try the backlight substitution trick. I successfully used old tubes from CFL lamps to prove a lamp fault in a monitor recently. After replacing the lamps with new CCFLs it works fine. The old one had a crack in it!

Would work for 10-20 minutes at a time too... tricky one...

@budm: Yes or course. I'm leaning towards keeping this power board and trying the t-shooting. Doubled my investment so figure in for a penny in for a pound. Just wish I had some clue as to whether it's the 'inverter' (cap?) on the board or the CCFLs.

@Agent24: Thanks. Yeah if I come out ahead the learning skills will be worthwhile as well.

          Thank you.

Just make a pair of these:

It will save you so much time and money to find out if you have bad lamps or bad board.
Here are more pictures of what go wrong with the lamp assemblies.
