I can't find anything similar to this on here but it probably has been discussed, and it's not really relevant to this forum so my apologies, but...
I'm sure there are others on here like me, who have a huge number of laptops at any one time, for example I have approx. 90 laptops sat in my house!
Often I'm after parts but the cost of eBay boards etc just rules out refurbishment on them. My thoughts are whether or not a sub forum would work (obviously split into UK/USA etc for postage) where people can post a thread highlighting what laptops they currently have that they need parts for, so people like myself can go through and compare it to my stock list and see if we can help each other out?
For example.. I have a lovely PINK Sony Vaio VGN-C2S here which requires a harddrive caddy. There isn't one on eBay (apart from one for £12!! which is damaged anyway. Crazy money for a piece of plastic.) and if someone had a model here which was going to be used for spares, they could pass it on at a reasonable cost. Or another example: I have a DV2000 with a bad GPU. I'm not going to reflow it, so someone who needs a cheap screen could benefit.
I can't imagine this would really work or will be of interest to anyone, but it's food for thought. I'd rather keep as much money as possible out of ebay's pocket.
Edit..
On a semi-related note, if anybody in Wiltshire, UK wants a source of broken laptops.. PM me!
