Re: Where can I get a low profile vga bracket for my graphics card?
if it's DVI, find a dell Nvidia Geforce 4 mx in half height for cheap... I do happen to also have a VGA-only half height bracket sitting...
edit- those geforce cards are not as plentiful as I thought... I used to have a $5 source for them... but I recently bought the last one for that Ibm Netvista project.
do see:

Should be DVI with HDMI on top on the card mounted low profile bracket and a small cable that connects to the card to a second low profile bracket for the VGA port. You didn't say what brand but most are like this Sapphire card.

I have a couple of those low profile bracket kits for those cards but can't part with them sorry.
If you can find $10 this kit will work for whatever you have.

I think this puter might actually be worth a crap yet once I get my graphics card moved over. I just got done slapping 8gb of Gskill ripjaws memory in it, had to remove the heat spreaders though to get the memory modules to clear the dvd burner. I don't figure it should hurt them considering they are rated at dd3-1600 and I'm only running them at ddr3-1066 or whatever speed it is... I'm thinking that they should run cooler at slower speeds. And yes a an Intel G41 chipset WILL support 8gb of RAM.

yeah 4x4 i'm not suprised
if I were you, I would lower the voltage a little bit
I have three gskill 1600's and the metal on the spreader gets HOTCap Datasheet Depot: http://www.paullinebarger.net/DS/

hmm, you may have different versions, mine are pretty old, actually they're some of the first 4gb ddr3 sticks. costs me $129 each back in the day
newer ones should be cooler, get a ir temp gun and see if they get too hotCap Datasheet Depot: http://www.paullinebarger.net/DS/

Both of you, try checking the RAM voltage with Aida64 or something..
If it's higher than 1.50V (standard voltage for DDR3 RAM), it's no wonder they get hot

Seems to be a similar story on the evergreen P35.
Officially it supports 8GB DDR2 or DDR3 in a 4 slot configuration (i.e. 2GB per slot). My Gigabyte EP35C-DS3R has 4x DDR2 slots and 2x DDR3 slots, so officially, I'd be limited to 8GB DDR2 (4x 2GB) or 4GB DDR3 (2x 2GB).
Felt like pushing my luck, so I ordered 2x 4GB DDR3-1333 Mushkin dirt cheap. Turns out the 2GB/Slot limit is bullshit, as my board happily runs with 8GB DDR3 (2x 4GB), despite it officially not supporting more than 4GB DDR3 total
