    Mallory caps with unusual markings

    http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...me=338-1745-ND

Does the SEK series sound familiar?

If it doesn't, look at the vent.

    Does it look familiar?

Some of these are also the most expensive caps that Digi-Key sells in their capacitance and voltage ratings.

I don't think they would sell fake caps. All of the parts I have purchased from Digi-Key appeared to be genuine parts and I will still purchase parts from them.

If these were the cheapest caps I could find in a certain value, I would probably use them. I haven't repaired any devices that were worth putting expensive parts in.

I have not seen the vent of a real CDE though, maybe Teapo copied that too?

The specs seems to be very much inline with each other. Who copied who? Plus the vent and the same series name?

Those are not low ESR [least not like you're thinking] as can be told by the ESR being given at 120Hz vice 100kHz.

Mallory was a good brand until Mallory died and the brand name got sold off.
Last I knew, or so I thought, Siemens owned the brand name.

Looks like CDE is using the name to sell rebranded Chinese crap now.
        - What a shame...

SEK isn't that unpopular as series names go.
Several brands use it and their specs don't jive.

I wasn't looking for low ESR (or even 105°C) caps when I found that. All of the Mallory branded caps I have found used Teapo series names, and they all have ESR values listed in their specs.
