    It's called disk cache. It went by the name of VCACHE in the Win98 days IIRC. That's where the RAM is going, and before you ask, no, it's not a good idea to disable it. But try it for yourself and see what you get.

      That computer has a program called Genesis One DPM installed that is supposed to improve disk performance. That could be using a lot of RAM.
