    Capacitors in series?

Anyone ever seen capacitors on a PC motherboard in series? I have two 820uf 6.3V caps that each read ~1600uf each in circuit. Across the two, I get ~1600uf pos of 1 to neg of 2, and 1776uf neg of 1 to pos 2.

Trying to figure if they are way out of whack on capacitance or mounted in series.

    That would be parallel.

ESR measures fairly reliably in circuit. Measuring capacitance in circuit is not reliable at all. The capacitors must be pulled to get a reliable capacitance measurement.

Can't measure ESR in circuit with parallel caps either.

That's like measuring resistors in parallel.
