My LG W2242s is buzzing from behind

    so,

I opened the back cover and I isolated the buzzing noise.

I think it's coming from the side of the Inverter/Tranformer (EEL-22W...............).

Is that a problem or a problem to be?

If so, which from this list:

    http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_saca...el-22w&_sop=15

    do you suggest?

    Thanks for your help!

    Buzzing isn't normal.
I would check the power supply for a possible bad cap.
If all looks good try adjusting the brightness up and see what happens.

You can first try and resolder it - remove completely from the board
and replace it using leaded solder. Sometimes, if it is loose coils inside the transformer superglue can help.

I and at least one other member have had good service ( although slow as is normal) from the first one in your list.

now the monitor has been covered again (we needed it for use)

but the caps were optically good (I have no capacitor meter yet)

I tried adjusting the brightness, and it was only at 100% brightness that the noise almost disappeared

I have read the method you suggest,

but fistly I want to know if there is problem and then I will look for solutions

instead of the superglue could i use "thermal (gun) glue" ? (something like that http://www.howardelectronics.com/ste.../WGF-3002L.jpg )

            Is it at optimum resolution?

not on the core wiring it would re-melt everytime it got hot.
You can buy proper varnish but its more expensive than replacing the
transformer!! useful though when you cant buy one.

                optimum resolution;

do you mean the recomended resolution from win7? (like that http://www.elmajdal.net/win7/Changin...resolution.png )

If you do, yes it's on recomended 1680x1050

but the noise appears even if the lg screensaver is displayed (when there is no signal)

                  so,

a new 5$ transformer would be the best choice?

Yes BUT you should look to see if there are any tests you can do to see if it is the circuitry causing the vibration - or just replace the caps.

Re: My LG W2242s is buzzing from behind

hi, I 'm back again and i have just replaced the inverter-tranformer

the good news: the monitors is still operating? (at the first power on the monitor was buzzing like an electric moter and the picture was too dark and flashing but after 2-3 power on/off and less than 1 minute it was fixed itself)

the bad news: the first buzzing noise did only get less loud but did not disappeared

                        so, what is next? re-capping?

                        thanks

                          I have a very similar issue with a 2262 monitor/TV.
Mine it didn't work, I have replaced the power supply.
The new power supply is buzzing when there is no signal.
                          With signal the buzzing disappears.
I have complained to the Ebay seller and he suggested to check the tubes.
I didn't have time to check it out.
I have replaced a tube because I broke it, when I tried removing it.
Initially I had a flashing screen after replacing an IC.
So you are saying, that a new transformer fixed the buzzing?

If it is buzzing with no signal, you need to look at what changes when the signal is applied.

                            Does the backlight get brighter?

Almost certainly the main board processes more data, and thus uses more power (and some SMPS may buzz under low load.)
