Re: LG w2241s 2sec and then black

what do you mean by "examing the pins in the sockets"?
Then you say to do a continuity test (I think I can't do ihm test becasue blue caps will shw me infinitive) . How far should I reach with the continuity test? until transformer pins?

I mean physically inspect them - look inside the socket to make sure they are not bent/snapped off.
Yes that is what I was trying to say - on the route from the socket to the transformer there is the blue cap so you can only do continuity from the pin to the cap then from the other side of the cap to the transformer. May not be much you can check

Re: LG w2241s 2sec and then black

I physically examine the pins and they are ok.
Checked continuity from pin to first pin of cap , all ok.
from the last pin of the caps to the first resistor, diode etc ok. I can't go all the way to the transformer because I can't follow all the circuit to it.

I am all out of ideas other than removing all the old solder cleaning the pads and resoldering
and as I said may as well replace the blue caps at the same time.

Re: LG w2241s 2sec and then black

I have been reading a thread in the tv section and one experienced member had a problem with no back light. Eventually he went back to testing the
inverter transformer and whilst the resistances were reasonable close he
used a ring tester and found that even so it would not work correctly.
If you can get a transformer cheaply , it may be worth trying a replacement.

Re: LG w2241s 2sec and then black

I bought 4 blue caps today, they had only one of a kind. I will change those first.
I could find such a tranformer. Some of the letters are not visible so I don't know where can I find one.
If you have a link it will be great.

You need to search for EEL-22D
                  Here is one such link
                  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1PCS-INVER...-/261067115675

I do not know if that will fix it but you may be able to resell the transformer.

                    Can I measure the transformer?
How many volts will it give me?
Is it very high voltage or regular 3V -12V

Re: LG w2241s 2sec and then black

You "measured" it in post 2 - that is all you can do without a Ring Tester
VERY HIGH Voltage could be 2000-4000 VAC !!!

I changed blue caps today. Still the same problem. One lamp seems to light ok the other light half and then both are off

Forgotten wher we were up to with this - have I suggested swapping the lamps plugs?
In Pic1 move the two plugs on th eleft to the sockets on the right and vice versa to see if the half light moves - in which case it is a bulb /bulb wiring fault.

If I change the lamps the problem remains in the same side. Nothing change whatever I cahnge (lamp, side )

Well I think you have to try a new inverter transformer - its up to you.

I think too that I have to change the tranformer just in case
I will feedback when I change it.

It was the transformer after all.
                                  It was so simple
                                  Thanks all for your help.

Thanks for the update - it was a struggle but fixed in the end - well done!

We have learned not to trust these transformers even if they test good.

Yeah, I think the best test is with ring tester, although I never test or saw one myself
