    9800GT No video

    I have a 9800GT (PNY.)

One day Ubuntu froze. After reboot, no video. Checked the caps for the GPU = total esr 0.05 ohms. Seems pretty high? Then I got it working again, I suspect by chance.

Before this graphics card was used in a media PC and that was occasionally BSODing Windows. So I figure it is faulty.

I checked the caps and they are not Sacon. They are silver cans with a purple stripe - Sanyo?

      Re: 9800GT No video

Is it a single-slot (flat cooler) version?
Those are dying on a regular basis.. BGA/Bump problems on the GPU itself.

It's unfortunately VERY common for 8800GT/9600GT/9800GT with single-slot coolers like in the attached pics to die like this..

Here's a bad Verto GeForce 9600GT. At first only Eve would crash it so I moved it to a non Eve computer. Then after a few more months of use Warcraft III would crash which makes it essentially worthless.
