Re: CCTV capacitors
Are there any bulging capacitors in there?
Are there any brands which are known bad?
You should be able to unscrew the board and take it out of the case if it's hard to see in there..."Tantalum for the brave, Solid Aluminium for the wise, Wet Electrolytic for the adventurous"

Does the PSU you have give any indications as to the output voltages and pinout of the connector?
Is it the same connector as an ATX PSU?
200W (+3.3v & +5v=105W)
+3.3v--14.0A
+5v--21.0A
+12v--10.0A
-12v--0.5A
+5vsb--2.0A
all 20 pins (they ony 19 wires) colour code wires match to pins like for like
i think i may be able to find a bigger watt one in an other computer if this ones no good to tryLast edited by lee123; 03-23-2011, 05:56 AM.

Re: CCTV capacitors
Since you said the problems appear heat related, do you have freezer spray and a hairdryer you can use to see if you can narrow down the culprit?
Never done it myself, but have read about others doing it. I assume this is the kind of scenario you would try it in."Tantalum for the brave, Solid Aluminium for the wise, Wet Electrolytic for the adventurous"

Re: CCTV capacitors
i think what i'm going to do is replace all the cap on the top PCB board "3 at a time".
also go over as many solder joints that i can with the iron, just to see if they are a dry joint, would i need to use some flux to do this? if so what sort?
thanks lee
good call Agent24, must get me some sprayLast edited by lee123; 03-23-2011, 03:32 PM.
