Hi all, i have this mobo, the problem:

Try hotflashing a newer BIOS if the BIOS chip is a square PLCC chip.

If that doesn't work then I'm out of ideas.

go into the bios with the "del" key and turn off the quickboot logo so you can see the diagnostic text.

he may get in by pressing the button before the logo apears.

this is why you dont set the stupid logo on in the bios.
it may be bitching about the ram or a bad gfx card, but if you cant see it then you dont know.

i'd like to know what cards and how many dims are in this machine!

Using PS/2 or USB keyboard ?

If USB, try a PS/2 keyboard to see if its Del key gets into BIOS settings

If this occurs with 4 sticks, take half of them out, increase the DRAM voltage, save then put the other sticks back in.

(Increase the DRAM voltage to 1.90 V for DDR 2)

Replace the Cmos battery with a new one, Some ASUS boards will do this when the battery drops below 3v.

Does the "Num Lock" key on the keyboard stop responding too? Keep pressing so that it turns ON and OFF. If it stops responding, the motherboard truly is getting stuck on boot. May need to reflash BIOS chip externally.

Well,he'll have a hard time flashing the chip I guess, since it's neither DIP32 nor PLCC.

                                  what is it, SPI ?

if it is then it may be pretty easy from a parallel port.
