    Nice!

Most would change the other caps anyway as the smaller ones don't normally show signs of bloating.

Sure here are some pictures from earlier before the fix. top view still shows original caps, will take a couple more new pics when I get time later to take it apart again and replace the remaining.

        Re: Samsung 244T Troubleshooting

Thanks - cant just see what I wanted to see - never mind - i guess you have checked the Big cap for bulge at the end. There will be a small start up cap on the primary {hot}side , but there are a few on this board and I cant see which -it is often a 47uf50v or 68uf50v but you should catch it if you replace all.

There is quite a bit of solder splatter where you have soldered - you should clean it off (old toothbrush) in case it gets moved and causes a short.

              Re: Samsung 244T Troubleshooting

              Hi All.

I have a similar issue where I have replaced the majority of the caps on the main board and the monitor worked for a short while (Now shows the standby led flashing but wont turn on.) I've replaced the 450 V filter cap but none of the small 47, 100 uf caps as they look fine. (The others were bulging). I also still get some 50hz hum.

I noticed that there is a surface mount cap on the logic board right next to the connector that goes to the backlight board that looks like it has expanded a little.

I'm not sure how to identify the specs of that cap.

              It has on the top:
              44258
              100
              35T

Am I right in assuming 100uf, 35V and the T is a tolerance reference of some sort?

              Appreciate any help.

              Thanks

OK cant really see it - if it is D801 then it would be a diode.
If definitely B801 then it could be a ferrite bead. You can only really test them
for resistance - if it is open it is dead. I dont think they often go bad.

                        Re: Samsung 244T Troubleshooting

                        Hi,

i picked up this thread cause i might have the same problem (my monitor also buzzing like in the video).
I didnt change any cap until now.
For me it looks like the big one is fine (no bulge), ony the smaller ones have a little bulge. (you can find 2 pics attatched)

Is it possible that the noise is coming from the small ones? Or should i just change all of them? If you have any recommendations it would be great, if not i will try to change them all,

                        thanks!

You should at least replace those 3 with domed tops plus the other two on the left edge of the board as well, I really recommend to replace all except the large main filter cap, some already bad so other may be bad too since bad cap can look normal but can have high ESR or lost it capacitance.
You must use low ESR/Impedance type with 105c temperature rating, not general purpose type. I use PANASONIC FM/FC/FR series.

First of all, thanks! I have changed the caps now (all of them, small & big) and the monitor is working!
I have bought the caps from a shop in my town and they didnt have low ESR, so i tried it with normal caps (Its written "Antel" on it).

Would you recommend to change them immeadiatly to ESR, or can i go on with the normal CAPS until the monitor brakes up again?

                            Thank you for your answer!

You can use it until they go bad but if they do not perform filtering properly and lets AC ripples get to the circuits, it can cause damages.
The general purpose caps may last weeks or months.
