    Vizio E320-B0 wont power up

    Hey guys,
So I have a Vizio E320-B0 tv and after not using it for awhile I realized that it would not work properly. I plugged it in and it wouldnt turn on, so I just went on with something else and tried to turn it on about 5 minutes later and it came on. It was on for about 45 seconds and then shut off. I then left it as it was overnight and tried the next morning and it worked. I had a few days of it working and then turned it off and then it wouldnt turn back on. When I say that it would not turn on, I mean the little light on the edge of the tv would not even come on, not just the screen. So with the power light not coming on, I figured it would be the power supply as I have had to replace a few of those before on other tvs. I ordered a power supply from the internet and installed it....still no luck. I am wondering if maybe the new power supply is bad as well? The caps on both the original PS and the one that I just purchased look fine (no explosions) and no contacts on the board anywhere are burnt.

    Info:
    TV Model: E320-B0
    Power Supply: 0500-0614-0400

Through research, I have seen that even though the Model Number of the tv should be definitive, there seem to be a few different E320-B0 models that some use different power supply numbers and main boards and so I made sure to get a Power supply with the exact number and appearance. The only difference in the two that I have my hands on right now are cap colors which could be due to the manufactures of that batch.

Any help would be appreciated and I am continuing research after I submit this.

    Thanks Guys!

Can you provide clear pictures of the back of the tv? ( advanced/attachments ).

Also , does the led give a error code? ( for example 5 blinks/pause/5 blinks ).
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

as far as the LED giving a trouble code, nothing. No light of any sort is emitting from the power LED

Lots of EEPROM for this model.

if the EEPROM was done, would the power LED not light up at all? wouldnt that mean that no power was getting through the power supply?

But you indicated that you have already replace the power supply, and you do have standby power supply section feeding the main board, right? You did check and verify that you do have standby Voltage, right? Unless both power supply boards have bad standby power supply section.

I have not checked voltage on the Power Supplies. I was able to get that second power supply for $11 shipped so I just went ahead and did that.....possibly for nothing.

I could check for voltage on the board but I cannot find a pinout description of it anywhere. I read some other threads about checking for voltage.
Here is the pinout of the connector going from the power supply to the main board:

Well, pin 1 and pin 2 are the 19V standby Voltage that should be present the minute you plug the TV into the AC outlets.

Ok, I have 18.8v on both of those....so I suppose I do have standby voltage. I wasnt sure what the "sb" meant for sure. (never truly worked on TVs and didnt want to assume). So since I have standby voltage, whats to check next?

budm, I appreciate your help and I have been reading information that you have helped others out on their threads too. thank you for your help.

Re: Vizio E320-B0 wont power up

That means you will need to dig deeper into the main board, it has problem for sure. You may try checking the Voltage regulator ICs, otherwiese there is not much of the repair you can do on the main board.
From SHOPJIMMY regarding to the EEPROM failure symptom:
                        IMPORTANT:
These main boards can have multiple failures, in addition to the EEPROM.
If EEPROM replacement does not repair your board, there are likely additional problems.

                        Symptoms EEPROM replacement MAY fix:
                        - On screen display is stuck on logo screen
                        - TV won’t power on with remote or buttons (LED indicator remains same color)
                        - TV won’t turn on after being off for 30+ minutes
                        - TV shuts off by itself during channel scan or when switching inputs
                        - TV turns on and is stuck in color test pattern mode forever
                        - TV turns on but there is no backlight (LED indicator shows TV is on but there is no image)

But your is completely dead without any indicator lights so that kind of ruled out the EEPROM.
Try disconnecting that flat ribbon cable from main board to the T-CON board to see what will happen.

ok, since I only see one ribbon cable from the main board, im assuming its other end is connected to the TCON board...which is deeper into the TV. If I disconnect the ribbon cable from the main board, then I should try and power on th TV to see if I get a LED of some sort or should I check voltages somewhere?

I took more panels off and this is where the ribbon cable goes from the main board. the board it plugs into runs the entire length of the TV and I cannot find any part numbers on it.

The power supply and mainboard are different, but he does go through the troubleshooting steps, which can be applied to your Vizio.
