    Re: ESR meter upgrades

the test routines have been changed a few times over the past year.

and no, it cant test complex analog parts like regulators.

        Re: ESR meter upgrades

i got an EZM one of these, same as in post #446.
        And it was working fine.
But i thought that it tested voltages; so bricked the chip.
So got another chip and used a batch file to program it with "GM328x ESR tester (SVN684) - v2.zip"
It now appears to operate well, except for one thing: after going through the calibration process, and the test finishes, it says that it is not calibrated.
Any idea why it's not calibrating?

Have you tried to run Selftest from menu?

            Yeah,
Strapped terminals 1, 2, and 3, and removed them when said to isolate.
Then it asks for a cap greater than 100nf between 1 and 3, so i give it 25uf.
It then visually flashes the capacitance measurement on the LCD for two or three minutes.
Then it asks for 10-30nf, so i give it 12nf
It then displays the capacitance briefly.
And then it displays "Test end"
And then returns to the menu.
Then i test a few caps and it gives good readings.
            Then i select "turn off"
With no components inserted, i turn it back on
            It tests the battery correctly
Then displays :"no unknown or damaged part?"
            Then "Not calibrated!"
            And then automatically powers off.
If i insert a capacitor, and push the button before it displays the "not calibrated!" message, it tests the capacitor.
So, is this calibrated, or not?

instead of 25uf, use something like 220nf - atleast not more than 1uf.

it should not flash for a few minuits - that tells me it's not happy.

i dont recommend it - it's slow to update the screen, and i cant free enough memory to enable crystal testing!
Which one would you recommend? Or is changing the crystall a solution?

i recommend this at the moment.

                    and a case!

Dam the ebay seller is not shipping to Germany. This should be the same if i am right.
                      http://www.ebay.de/itm/GM328-Transis...cAAOSw0fhXki5S

And because RS is really pricy in Germany (more than 8€ for shipping) i want to ask if i can use this crystall. It is not a 10ppm.
                      http://www.ebay.de/itm/272367597610

And because i can not find my old programmer (i used it to programm Atiny 13A chips for my flashlights).
                      http://www.ebay.de/itm/172229590674

Now i only need a cheap source for the voltage regulator. If i did not miss anything.

all those links look fine to me just be aware that stuff from china is taking ages to arrive lately due too some shipping company issues

The Programmer has arrived. Now i am waiting for the Kit to arrive.
One question. Can someone check if i have found the right PMIC (https://www.conrad.de/de/pmic-spannu...html?insert=62).
A friend works nearbuy this shop and can get it for me. So i do not have to pay for shipping.
There was a second chip to increase the battery runtime but i can not find it in this shop. And i do not have the knowledge to check for a chip with similar characteristics.
Maybe someone here can take a look.

                              that's the part,
i'll take a foto later of how to fit it - because it's not the same as the lm431 it replaces.

                                Thanks that would be nice!
And can you also help with the other chip. I think it was a 5V low dropout voltage regulator. But i can not find the chip at Conrad Elektronics. But maybe they have something similar that i can use.

the AY-AT kit uses a 7550A regulator - it may be decent.
i'll have to find the datasheet

the 7550 actuually looks pretty impressive!
so no need to change it.
