    If you have one shorted turn on the transformer, using Ohm meter will not work. What you can try is to install a good transformer on this bad board and see if it works OK, by the way, the transistors were installed properly, right?

      Budm, I'm not sure if I wrote very clear.. it's late. But I installed the transformer from the bad board on the good board - the backlights lit OK, but there was a buzzing (the same buzzing I heard on the bad board before it blew out some unknown component). After about 30 seconds the fuse blew. So there is no question the transformer is bad. BTW: I did also try the transformer from the good board on the bad board - board is still bad. I'm sure there is more damage on the bad board than just the transformer at this point. I have everything back the way it was originally now and accept the fact I have one good monitor and one bad monitor not worth repairing....
