Re: part id help
cheers selldoor there my mates rope lights basically the lights consist of 10 meter white constant on led rope lights this bridge rectifier was enclosed in like a torpedo shape molded plastic block (had to cut it open to get inside ) then found this part and only this part so this has 240 volts in then it goes through the bridge converts to dc volts out? then goes to the rope light run. so could i run this of a adaptor like a old laptop one? how can i work out what the output of that rectifier is? and is it 3 amps.cheers vince

Re: part id help
No- if and only if that is the only component between the mains and the light string then it will be output 230 * 1.41 approx 325VDC.
If size is not a restriction so others are available

Re: part id help
Wow thats the big one! 1000v.
Anyway the picture and the diagram of the part on the datasheet shows the pin designation and it is probably on the part itself..
Centre Pins are AC doesnt matter which is which and the DC + is at the end with the slope. Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: part id help
Hi - Yes I think it will be ok -that is the max v.
I am guessing the bulbs are not leds and if they are tiny grain of rice bulbs
are they 150 bulbs at 1.5v so supply 225v would be good.
If that is the case and they are 1.5v filament bulbs I dont think it will matter
which is live and which is negative, BUT I dont KNOW for certain. Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: part id help
203 white leds about 2 or 3 mm each led so do you think this will work? like this they dont flash or any thing just plug in turn on.

Re: part id help
Obviously it should work - you have just changed the bridge. BUT if they are leds then I think it does matter which is pos and neg. So you need to wait until someone who knows
chimes in. Did the bridge you took out have any markings - did you take a pic of it in situ. Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: part id help
no it was broke in bits after removing it it was in like a torpedo of molded plastic ie have mains plug then wire then this torpedo molding with the small bridge rectifier part number HY RU 3KBP10 molded in side then a length of wire onto the rope light on the out side of the torpedo molding plug end stamped ac rope light end stamped dc if makes sence.

Re: part id help
Please post the pictures. White LED has forward voltage between 3~3.6V so the configuration of your LED rope must be LED strings connected in parallel.Never stop learning

Re: part id help
If you can count the quantity of the LED on each string, then you can figure out how much voltage it will need to forward bias all the LED in the string + the current limiter resistor.Never stop learning
