    Diagnosing Tatung CRT monitor problem

    Hello! I am having problems with a 9-pin monitor...

    I have been changing the adjustment pots on the monitor, but the best I can do is this...

    Several adjustment dials are available but I could not find one that made the picture look right.

    Any ideas? (I cannot replace this monitor, so buying another is out of the question).

    Thanks!

    VS, VH, HH

    V. Center

    A. Drive, B.Drive

    I can help with what those pots do but I don't think adjusting them is going to cure the problem (looks like a synch issue - wrong vertical refresh frequency maybe?)

    VS = Vertical Sync (can sometimes help with symptoms similar to those in the pic)
    VH = Vertical Hold
    HH = Horizontal Hold
    V Centre = obvious
    A Drive = (iirc) 1st anode voltage adjustment
    B Drive = (iirc) 2nd anode (focus) adjustment

    I'm a little hazy on the latter two but one of them will adjust the overall screen brighness and if increased too high will result in flyback lines being visible on the screen.

    I've seen issues similar to yours with TVs and I'd have to connect a 'scope up to trouble shoot it properly.

        Thank you for the advice. I will try with a different computer to see if it makes a difference.
