    My bulb tester...

I read Jestine Yong's book about SMPS repair and he always suggests soldering a bulb across the fuse holder when powering on a repaired PSU for the first time... But I think this is a bit messy, and dangerous should one of the solder joint come free and touch the other..

So for convenience I've made up this..

So when you are testing the repaired board, instead of soldering a bulb across the fuse, you leave the board intact and simply plug the board it in to this lead.. By choosing the wattage of the bulb, you can choose with value of current to limit the circuit to..

I just dont understand why he would suggest soldering a bulb across every circuit? Is there some advantage to his method ?

BTW, here in Ireland.. brown is live, blue is neutral, yellow/green is earth..
