OK...I have soldered the 1.2 ohm resistor across the F101 Fuse ...connected the boards together and put in the chassis screws....and re-connected the 4 connections that as I understand are for the Monitor Light....So basicly thats it....I presume that the monitor is ready for power BUT I will eagerly await instruction to do this ..Just in case.. Cheers Ron.

Plug it in but do not hit the power switch since the power supply will be running the minute you plug the monitor into the outlet, then check and see if you still have 5VDC on the main controller board or if you can see any indicator light on the front of the monitor, if you do, then hit the power switch to see if you can turn it on now.

Mmm ..Could you please bare with me..I think I understand ?? Would I be correct in assuming one can plug the unit into a live power supply which supplies power to part of the unit (presumably the inverter board ..) and that one has to then hit the units power switch to actually turn the unit fully on....I presume this power switch is the indicator light IE middle push switch at the centre/front of the unit? At this point I do not know if it is actually on or off.. I just feel its critical at this point to fully understand your post..Thanks Ron

Re: Viewsonic VX2235wm-5 _ Will not power up.

As soon as you plug the AC plug into a wall socket, the power supply's 5V DC standby rail is up and running. The 5V standby voltage goes to the main board. The main board then sits there and waits until you press the on/off switch on the remote or TV. Once it receives such a command, it toggles the PS_ON to high (usually 3V or higher) which instructs the power supply to bring up all the other voltages.

Plug it into working PC and turn on the monitor to see if you can see anything on the screen now.

I have not tried yet ...I have to disconnect this PC and then move it to another room and then set up the monitor (I presume I do not have to completely put it all together ) and then carefully connect it to the PC and then Power Up...I will try within an hour ...Thanks Ron

Right I have everything all set up..to switch the power on..Are you sure you do not want me to take any reading before I do this? I have taken a reading as interpreted from an earlier Post...IE With no power on at the wall I have taken a reading from the 5V pin on the multi pin board connector to the Chassis and it reads Zero...So I presume I now need to turn the wall power on then the PC and then the monitor??? Cheers Ron

OK..I now have Lights on the monitor but nothing is showing from Windows XP ...I wonder if this is a problem or whether the monitor has to set up etc..The push switches along the bottom of the unit as I understand are for the various adjustments but playing with them there is nothing ...Ron

So, even though you cannot see anything on the screen, can you still turn the monitor on and off using the power switch, since you had the blown fuse for the main board which would have made the main board not to function at all. If it does response to the power switch, but nothing is showing up on the screen even the monitor setup menu, then you still have more problems to troubleshoot. I just hope that your PC is OK and it is putting out the video signals to the monitor, otherwise we will be troubleshooting the wrong place.

Yes ..I now realise I was getting excited about nothing....Powering up from the wall plug does produce the back lights but as I understand the middle push switch in the control panel is the Power Switch and should show a LED light...Blue or Yellow.....There is NO LED light and pushing this button does absolutely nothing ....The PC is my working PC ..It was taken from its normal monitor ,taken to another room to be hooked up to the Viewsonic..So I can guarantee the PC is OK....Thanks Ron

That means the resistor we put in may have open up which means there is still short circuits on the main board, you need to check that resistor to see if it is still OK or not. Next step will involve in-depth troubleshooting of the the main board.

Removed Power Board and checked across resistor with MMeter set at 200ohms..got reading of 01.5 ..So I think the resistor has survived ..I am looking forward to your next command..Ron

hi- are you sure that when you ran it all set up, the flat cables were all securely attached.
I ask as in Pic 3 one of the flat cables looks pulled at one side?
If the flat cable to the on/off switch panel was not connecting properly that would account for it not working.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

I have a similar problem with a viewsonic vp2130b. I was just sitting in front of the computer when all of a sudden the monitor lost all power, as if someone had unplugged it. I tried turning it back on and unplugging/re-plugging without luck. Even tried it on a different computer. There are power lights at all on the monitor. I have opened it up and do not see any bulging/leaking capacitors. Before I post some pics, I'd wonder if I should post them here or in a new thread. Please let me know, thanks!

If its a different monitor then start a new one. This will stop people getting yours and this one confused.
