    Today the parts arrived. I just soldered the new regulator to the circuit board - tested it - the monitor is working fine again!

      Excellent work!! Thanks for the feedback. Also, goes to show you that a voltage regulator can still test fine out of circuit, but still be bad. It must be put under a load to fully check it.

        Great job, glad to see it working again. That is one of the reason to put 100 Ohms or less (100 Ohms at 3.3V will be only 33mA) as a light load when testing regulator.
