Samsung Syncmaster 245b - Testing resistors

    Good afternoon,

Seems all my searching on this problem always leads me to these boards - clearly the people here know what they're doing. Anyways, my monitor has gone the journey, it's recognised by windows, blue power light is on fine, but no display... I've done a bit of reading and a common factor seems to be certain resistors on the power board. I've checked the fuses that I can see and they're fine, and it appears that the popular resistors aren't at fault, but I'd like to double check that.

I've uploaded a photo of the power board (both sides - particularly the resistor area), and have shown the points on the underside where there is continuity. I'm no electrical engineer, but I'm assuming I'm getting the continuity in all the right places. So, if somebody wouldn't mind checking this for me and if this is okay possibly give some guidance on where to look next.

I'm assuming it is some sort of glue, but in the fourth picture (ending 3rb), the resistors have what looks like dried gunk (yeah, my vocabulary is that good), although it is rock hard.

Actually, my photos aren't too good quality (rubbishy camera), so rather tha reduce the quality further so they can be uploaded here I have attached them to imageshack - hope this is okay:

    Thank for your help.

Your test points, as marked, are wrong. You -will- read continuity on the like colored circles there as it is the circuit board foil.

You want to measure across each of the the resistors, which should each read 68Ω.
    RB805, 806, 807

These PSUs should also be recapped to avoid continuing problems. Search (advanced) the forums for 245BW >> Titles only >> Threads

Several deal with this EXACT PSU board and the caps that should be used to re-cap them. Also do the caps on the backlight inverter.

Remove (carefully) any of that dried caulk/gunk/glue from any components. You can replace it with any good brand of silicone caulk.

Hello Toasty. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'll follow your advice and see what I can come up with and will let you know.

        hi toasty @ ruffles
as you used the word (hopefully) it got my inquisitive head going
looked at other pics on other threads on this and come up with this
not 100% sure, what do you think on this

edit: just noticed it also runs with resistor screen codes

          Electrically the same difference.
