The secondary capacitors are low-ESR series, given that there is a 400V unit in the power supply primary.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

No complaints here. I use the chisel T12-K that came with the iron and a fine tip with a small bend T12-JS02 the most (£4 delivered).

There will always be some defects with pretty much every product made.

                    I have a 3A fuse in mine.

I got a euro to UK plug adapter, it came with the item.
It states on it that it should be grounded, but the device only has two plug connectors. The uk plug adapter has three.

So how do I make sure the soldering station is pluged in correctly?

                      WITH IT BEING GROUNDED.

Why not just cut the plug off and attach a UK one ?

Post a photo of your plug and equipment.
To show me what you did inside the plug so I can copy, thank you.

You don't know how to wire up a UK plug without a photo ?
Or are you saying the mains wire on your 950D had only two wires and no earth ?

That is the adapter needed. I want to see how you did it pal.
I got to make sure I do it properly, your mobile phone has a camera on it.

Also what braid and solder do you use for your work.

No adapter. As i said, cut off the non UK plug and stick a UK one on. It's three core that comes out of the Bakon.

Solder from RS, Chemtronics braid for BGA, Gootwick for smaller, Amtech 559 flux for important jobs, cheap Kingbo in a syringe for eveything else.

Photo of some of my bits including how to wire up a UK plug.

Chong: Shit, get rid of it. ChongX is better, Chong is fake, ratings usually aren't true.
JWCo: Largest capacitor manufacturer in the world, 1 billion caps per month produced. I have one in a fish tank that I have, 5 years old and still going, I don't think JWCo is that bad, they're definitely not that great though.

Can't find anything of AE, probably some random generic.

Hello, I also got a Bakon 950D, 75W soldering station. Did you guys check with a power meter? My unit uses much less power than claimed. A T12 tip is about 8 Ohm, the station outputs ~19V, which gives only 45W.

                                        Google this: UnionTest UW501
That is a (russian) station that looks pretty identical to the 950D, but it truthfully claims only 45W. I have the suspicion that many 950D units which are advertized as 75W are in fact only 45W. So, 40% less powerful. I feel a little bit cheated. Did I miss something? What do you think?
