    HP w1907 monitor

    Hi,
first of all, I like to introduce myself as a beginner in the monitor reparing world!!

I've got and HP W1907 monitor, everything went black, the monitor is really of, when I try to see the screen with a flshlights, there is nothing.

I open it and got a E131175 power board
No capacitors seems broken, i remove the C124, C125, C818, C822, C823, C824 ans test it on OHM, no one was short.

I test the fuse F801, it was ok

I test the 5.1V that goes on the Logic board ; when the logic board is plugged I read 1.6 to 2.3 VDC and when the logic board is unplugged I read 8.4VDC.

All thoose test were made with the monitor unplugged, i dont know if it change something??

Sorry for my not terrible english

    Thank you for you help

First, check the battery of your meter first (reading 8.4V is an odd reading, when meter's battery is low, it will give higher voltage readings). I cannot zoom in your pictures to take closer look at the cap. You need ESR meter to check the cap.
Do you get any LED indicator on the front of the monitor?

        Re: HP w1907 monitor

My battery meter is brand new.

I don't have a ESR meter, I only check them to see if they were short.

And I have an indication LED but it's not going on.

And what should I do for the picture»??

Go back to your original post and click on edit - then click on go advanced and then
remove. Then upload them again full size - check they are less than 2 mb jpg

          Were you testing on vDC

Pictures are good thanks - There are a few solder joints that I think could be improved
but first the meter - does it have a zero control. What does it show when the probes are
              together . Please test a 3v and 1.5v battery.

                Re: HP w1907 monitor

I actually dont have any new 3v battery cause I put the last one in the meter and it test 2.622Vdc
For the brand new 1.5 battery I got 1.56Vdc
I dont have any zero adjustement on this meter ( it is a Klein Tools MM200) but I have a Fluke at work, I don't remember de model but sur certainly be better. I will test my 5.1vDC with it tomorrow after work.

                    Re: HP w1907 monitor

ok looking at it your meter should be good but tests are inconclusive.
Wait and try with the fluke and we will start again.
When I said touch the probes together I should have said in ohms mode.
                    Should read zero.

I think your meter is more probably ok, on the psu board there are 2 double diodes on heatsink, to220 package, test in volts between secondary gnd and its central pins, if yor read strange values you can try to supply the mon. with a at/atx psu, 5v to the central pin of the upper diodes, 12v to the central pin of lower diodes and switch on the monitor. This is a test only.. the ac plug must be disconnected from the monitor psu.

I have one of these exact boards, I can do resistance testing if you like (as long as it's not when stuff is plugged in, I stopped working with high voltage stuff after getting a bad shock)

Power board is the same, though the controller is only VGA version on mine.

                          Hello All, Newbie here..

I have several of these monitors tossed from work. They were sold as a debranded TSSI model TS-19W7. Both would not power on. Upon disassembly, C815 on the power supply board was found puffed. 1000uF 16v electrolytic. I replaced with 1000uF 35v
and the monitor is alive. Hardest part is pulling the front trim bezel off to get inside.

I would suggest you to replace the set of cap, except the large main cap in the primary side, bad caps can look normal, also make sure to use low ESR caps like PANASONIC FM/FR/FC series not the general purpose caps.
Also watch out for bad lamps in this one.

                              So,
I test it again with a Fluke 787 and get the same reading

I also check the two double diode with the meter and it seems alright, i didn't put the power on with the 5v and 12v, still need to find another power supply. I read on the common pin on the D810 8.40Vdc. On the common pin of D809, 27 - 30 Vdc.

I replace the set of cap of 470uf(3) and the 1000uf(3) but i still get the same result.

All my measure are read when there is notrhing connect on the power supply .

When i connect everything i get a readind going from 0.9vdc to 3.6vdc

Which board? PTB-1773 or ILPI? Some of these monitors had different power boards.

thinking it better the external power supply test is not useful, check the vcc pin of smps ic in the primary side and also the pin for start voltage, if you don't know which are download the datasheet.. test also the voltage carefully at bigger capacitor, there are 160v so attention..
