    E19T6W powers off

I have a E19T6W monitor that has an issue....it powers on for about 2 seconds then off. Also when it stays up for more then 2 seconds if I press the menu button it powers off.

I changed all the caps in the power supply and visually checked for cold solder and it looks good.

    Any recommendations.
    Thanks

Hi sounds like 2 seconds to black - please read retiredcaps guide- start at post 19.
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=10419

We will also need pictures of the backs of the boards one on each pic please.
First easy test is to test the secondary windings on the inverter transformers (two big black rectangles) looks like pins 7 and 8 . Meter on 2000 ohms post results in ohms.

Before it went off did it ever look pink when first put on or did it flicker or become dull.

      Re: E19T6W powers off

Thank you for the quick response, I went ahead and checked the inverter transformers from pin 7 to 8 they both read in circuit 450 ohms.

Now I read the link you stated and mine is a little deferent when it powers off the light goes out completely no green and no red.

But when it powers up for more then a second or 2 if I press any of the menu buttons it completely powers down with no light.

No pink just powers off...no lights

      Thanks

              Re: E19T6W powers off

It can stay on for 10 seconds to one minute picture is excellent like new.
But when it shuts off for the first time it only stays on for 2 seconds, if I power it back on again.

                Re: E19T6W powers off

Well this is an interesting one - did you have the monitor when it worked properly - did the fault develop over time or suddenly (thinking powersurge)
                Have any capacitors been changed?
Can you look at capacitor C906 solder looks odd - look at the underside and try and
                wobble the top.

Also near the bottom inverter transformer there is what looks like a link - insulated?
Is the insulation burnt or is it just the pic.

I always use the test lamp to test the inverter section, that way you do not spend a lot of time just to find out that the inverter is OK.

@budm - Id say more than half the new posters on here do not have a test lamp and so it is easier to get them to test the inverter transformer.

                      Re: E19T6W powers off

I checked the C906 and all the soldering is fine and making continuity on boards foil. There is no sign of burn its the picture.

I bought this monitor brand new and had it for 1 year and a half. So it's out of warranty. The way it happened was, I run 3 monitors and when I am not using my PC the pc goes to sleep putting all 3 monitors in standby mode.

Well it was just one day I hit the spacebar so the system wakes up and this monitor was completely powered down, I press the power button it came up and only lasted say around 10 seconds then after only 2 seconds.

I tried and checked all the cables etc and still acts the same so-
I opened it and replace all the caps in the power supply and I might add the power supply looks new with no trace of burn marks or cold solder.

                        Re: E19T6W powers off

Now if the inverted transformers were defective this would cause a current draw from the 12 volt source, so the 5 volts should remain up which supplys the standby red light...right.

But my red light turns off. weird

I have 6 dollars in it and 2 hrs of my time ...not sure if its worth fixing. I was trying to find a quick fix that somebody may have had...with this type of monitor.

"But my red light turns off. weird" now that is one of the key word. When that happens, then you need to find out if the 5V power supply section went away.

                            Re: E19T6W powers off

Greetings! Troubleshooting the E19T6W as mentioned in the post above- including the "stays on for awhile" part. I've fixed about 60 Samsungs so far, but this one is a head-scratcher. The longest recorded time it has been on is 40 minutes. Screen goes black, power stays on. I power it off, then on again, and it appears fine for 15 minutes, then no display again, etc, until it stays on for 20 seconds or so. No "2 seconds to black" easy fixes here. After replacing a 'fading' capacitor, I decided to give it another go. This time, I handled the screen to see if it was getting too warm, and it went off from my touching the actual SCREEN part of the monitor. Further experimentation yields a few taps (not the power button, the screen) will make it go black reliably. Any clues on this one? Each time right before it goes dark, the screen brightens for a fraction of a second, if that's a clue.

I'm an electronics novice, so I'm not going to know most of what you suggest immediately. But, I am self-taught in many things, so I'll pick it up quickly. I have an auto-ranging multimeter, and a decent capacitance meter.

                            Your assistance is appreciated.
