Laptop not powering on after freeze spray

    Hello everyone,
I am new around here and this is my first post. And this is going to be very noob one
My laptop has died recently, actually it was "half" working but i think i messed up while attempting to troubleshoot.
It's Asus N73JF. I don't know what went wrong but it's all happened while swapping a new HDD into laptop.
It has started to act strange, like stucking at BIOS logo and i was unable to access BIOS at all.
So i have disassembled to make sure there's nothing wrong with external hardware or daughterboards. I have removed anything and tried to boot (even without screen).
But there was no change at all.

Anyway, i have tested some components with multimeter and found out that there is a short circuit on motherboard.
My multimeter was set to "continuity" mode. I've realized that, caps are that near to the CPU were in short circuit.
After doing more research, i tought that freeze spray might help to detect any failing components.

I have applied freeze spray to components and tried to power on with adapter (it's 19V 4.5A) and then everything messed up.
There is no visual damage, no smell or something.
Now when i power on the motherboard, CPU fan tries to "wake up" but it's not spinning at all. Power LED turns on for 1 sec and its turning off.

Appearently, i did awful job with freeze spray and i believe i have caused more damage.

Folks, please keep in mind that my goal is the fixing it by myself and gaining experience. It's not a a matter of life and death for me. I am just trying to figure out what went wrong and what is the right approach to troubleshoot such case. Plus, i am always looking ways to improve myself and gain some experience.

Right now, i can read 3.3v, 5v and 19V on motherboard. So seems like there are still alive components CPU gets very hot, i don't know if such high temperature is normal without a proper boot and OS load.

I have a basic multimeter, soldering equipment and half bottle of freeze spray.

Is it worth to keep working on it? Or should i send this mobo to trash?
    Thanks in advance.

    Dead hard drive probably.

No they were not, CPU power lines always show low resistance with the CPU on the motherboard (a few ohms).

    Check CPU VCore voltage.
Though if the CPU gets very hot it may be burnt…

        Hello,
Whole thing started after i install a new HDD. I was upgrading to SSD.
I went into bios to change boot order to install new os to new ssd, and then its never skipped bios logo and i was unable to go into bios.
So thats why i have unplugged everything from mobo.
And yes, heatsink is installed correctly.
All i am saying, CPU is getting hotter even with this actual state. (power led blinks 1 sec and stops)
I'll measure CPU Vcore and get back to you today.

              Hello cyberhack,
Yes it was not fitted. Now it fitted and test with other slot but no luck.

Re: Laptop not powering on after freeze spray

The cold spray can damage a single component only if it is very hot when you use it.
The presence of 3v e 5v and the shutdown when you push power button indicate the presence of a short only when the machine is in s0 state.
To localize the culprit you must remove some jumpers (if there are on this motherboard). i haven't the boardview but if you post it, I indicate to you the correct procedure.

                  Hello jasko_jacker,
                  Thanks for the tip.
Unfortunately, i don't have boardview or schematics of the board. And it's not available on net.
                  Any ideas?
I have posted pics of the mobo on my previous message. Hope that helps.

I'll take a look on these links. I saw them while i was searching schematics but i thought they were scam or something. Do you think that any similiar boardview for Asus N series would work? I can try to lookup for similiar models.

jasko_jacker, i got boardview ("N73JF 2.1.fz"), seems like its legit.
                        Now, how i should proceed?
Do you want me to upload this file to somewhere?
                        Thanks.

I can confirm that the boardview file i got is completely legit.
Now i need to know where to look first.
                          Thanks!

check 3.3 always voltage to 3vs voltage if present, same for 5 volts. if all is ok probablyi would assume a bad pch ?

                                  Sorry for delay,
I'm reading your post, I did not understand the situation: only using the power adaptor, without pressing the power button, and with the bios battery inserted , some component warms ?
You say that the cpu is very hot, in which situation if the system don't power on ?
