they certainy look the same not sure why the replacement is not working someone else is having remote control issues although on a toshiba looks like hes tracked it down to a area on the psu maybe worth a read of the thread still

Does this TV have Remote IR input jack (1/8" mini jack) in the back of the TV?

I've read about that particular fix for some LG's and searched high and low for a remote jack. I can only find a headphone and an audio input jack, I did give those a tickle, but to no avail.

After rebuilding it and putting it aside the remote was working 95% of the time. On Monday I'll be giving it the heating up treatment and sanity checking everything one last time, before finding the TV a new owner.
