[Samsung SyncMaster 713BM] No display and blinking power light.

[Samsung SyncMaster 713BM] No display and blinking power light.

I have an LCD monitor, Samsung SyncMaster 713BM-S (Silver), that does not display anything. When I turn it on, the green power light flashes continuously.

I took it apart (getting the plastic panel off was the most difficult; have to use a flat screwdriver and slowly pry the side latches outwards).

    I see one bulging Samxon capacitor [1000 uF, 25 v, U8A, 105°C8, GF(M)] on the power supply.

Can anyone infer if this is a power supply capacitor problem, or is it something else?

    1) Capacitors (C designation on the PCB board) die from age, heat, and shoddy build quality. Capacitors DO NOT have to be visibly bloated in order to bad. They can be out of tolerance uF (a 1000uF measures 20uF) and/or have high ESR (ohm). A multimeter will be insufficient to test for ESR. For that you need an ESR tester which costs between $50 and $300.

Most members here will recommend that you replace ALL capacitors with reputable brands from reputable sellers. Brands like Rubycon, Panasonic, and United Chemicon are suggested. A list of recommended caps can be found at

    2) One bad cap is enough to stop the lcd from working. Samxon GF series is a problematic series so I suggest replacing them ALL.

    3) Here is an example on how to find suitable replacements ...

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

      Thanks.

I found the Samxon GF datasheet here:
      https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...f9651347cb.pdf

I will get a Blue ESR tester.
