    Replacement caps, ESR/Impedance/Ripple

    Hello,

I need to replace a capacitor in my LCD display (ViewSonic VP930b), in the power supply, well look like it . But I'm not familiar with ESR/Impedance/Ripple specs.

    Original caps:
    -CapXon KF (http://www.capxongroup.com/files/KF%...1767828587.pdf)
    -1000uF
    -16 V
    -105°C

    Questions:
-Ripple: Do I need the same value?
-ESR/Impedance: Do I need the same value? Lower is better?

I think I need the same value for the ripple but Impedance I can go with the same or lower value but I'm not sure.

    Thanks,

    .
The Ripple spec tells you how much Ripple Current the cap can handle without over heating internally. [Similar to a current rating on a wire.]
... You want the same value or higher.
    .
ESR/Impedance tells you how much 'resistance' [technically the wrong word] the cap has to passing Ripple Current through it. ['Resistance' to Ripple.]
Since the caps job is to pass Ripple to ground a low 'resistance' to Ripple it is good.
... You want the same value or lower.
