    WOW! Emerson LF320EM4A

One of these just came in with a broken screen. It's being parted and sold on eBay. I'm not impressed. There's one single LED strip with 9 LEDs.

It was easy to open up though. I give them credit for that.

Holy Cow! I wonder what the pictures look like when it is working.

I like what it said on the website:

"A BASIC TV THAT GOES BEYOND YOUR EXPECTATION"

    http://www.emersonaudiovideo.com/pro...uct.php?id=649

I bet they drive the LEDs really hard.

Wow, it only weighs 13 pounds. I can see how these things are getting cheaper and cheaper. I saw one TV with an integrated PSU and main board.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

How does it manage to get even light distribution? Crazy.

looking at the depth of that rear molding, it must have one hell of a defuser layer!

With that Funai shit, who cares???

All that matters is that ya walk out the door with it after they've got your money.

Since "all TVs are the same," what difference does it make how the LEDs are (over)driven?

Most of the crowd buying these has been brainwashed into believing "it's not new, so it's junk." Does not matter if it lasts a year or even a week. The ones that die early are an entire week old and no longer new- therefore junky..

Hey "stoopid!" It was junk before you even bought it; before it was on the shelf, even...
            "pokemon go... to hell!"

            EOL it...

"Since "all TVs are the same," what difference does it make how the LEDs are (over)driven?" trying to get enough lights from single strip of LED instead of 4 strips, they will have to run that at full or beyond current limit of the LEDs just last long enough for warranty period.

in theory, wih 9 cree lamps on a heatsink and the right defuser it could be done.

but we know they arent using heatsinks or cree lamps.

                    Sarcasm???

You know, just like how people assume that "all power supplies are the same" because the supposed "wattage on the sticker" is an inflated number...

On the same note, how about nasty crapxons and cheapo-teapos that are supposedly 4000 hr parts at 105 degrees celcius but don't even last a year at moderate temps, while an actual capacitor (Panasonic, Nichicon, Chemicon, Rubycon) will last for years, despite being good for only 4000 hours...

"How can the 4000hr Nichicons last so long, while capxons of the (supposedly) same longevity died in 8 months???"

Because the capxons in that case were not 4000hr parts, despite the fabricated figures in their datasheets.

Sure they are, sure they are! See the cheezy steel heatsink? And how it works better w/o thermal compound?

Don't be persnickitty now- who needs the Crees? "All LEDs are the same."

                    Not.

Could be really dim. I fixed a 32" Vestel junker and it was about half as bright as a normal LCD. Maybe there's a shop mode that makes them really bright, but then when you take them home the LEDs wear out quickly and brightness reduces...

That's ok. A 2013 samsung plasma I worked on a while ago had a power supply that was warped so bad that it was touching the metal panel backing causing the middle of the panel electrodes inside the screen to change color to a greenish hue that won't go away and where the supply was touching the panel is permanently damaged.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Pictures? That sounds crazy. What a bad design.

Seriously, it seems like everything consumer electronics wise is now a race to the bottom with no sign of stopping.
