Acer AL 1511 sm, screen turns on for about 3 seconds then goes black. The Acer logo appears and like this appearence for redendencies and the light on the monitor turns green.

If you mean the screen looks reddish, it could be a sign of dying ccfls.
2 seconds to black can be
a) bad caps
b) bad ccfls
c) bad ccfl wiring (especially the return wiring)
d) bad secondary windings on the inverter transformer

check/replace C924 (470uF/16V) & C922 (1000uF/16V)
then if no better
CHECK the 2 double diodes.
There's 2 diodes inside each component, housed in the same
casing. One of the diodes is posable shortedComment
