    LeCroy 93xx power supply

Last night, I found that my LeCroy 9314AL would not start (the cooling fan starts to rotate and then stop, and then the power supply makes a ticking sound).
Earlier on, the scope program crashed and later had trouble starting.

So I decided to replace all but the still-good two 470uF 200V electrolytic capacitors, which were mostly Nichicon PL, some Nichicon PF and a few Nichicon VX, and this fixed the problem.
I also replaced the clear epoxy Rifa X and Y capacitors, of which in my experience can be problematic.
Before I connected the power supply to the scope mainframe, I checked that the output voltage were within tolerance and all were good - an important step to prevent damage from a repair that could be improper.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.
Working...
