One-year old Soniq T201-AU - bad Yihcon unit

In a year old Soniq T201-AU set-top box was a leaking 1000uF 25V Yihcon unit on the +5V rail before the output inductor, which was causing this rail to be low.
Replacing this capacitor fixed the problem - Typically, such brands of capacitors go bad after at least 3 years of operation, but failure after a year of operation seems a bit unusual to me.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.
