Why do you think that SMPS transformer is bad?
BTW, you should also start a new thread, also we need pictures that show all the boards and how the whole unit is wired up.

I not assumed a new thread because the subwoofer is structurally very similar to that of the subwoofer in this thread. Subwoofer does not turn on. I read the whole topic and after measurements I think it's a transformer because its winding they have no resistance.

DCR reading of that transformer windings will be really low which is normal.

What DCV do you have between the two legs of that green LYTICS cap to the right of that transformer?
Right now you do not have any DCV reading on the board what so ever?
Please also provide STRAIGHT SHOT pictures of the top and bottom side of the boards, also pictures showing the whole unit.
You have switching power supply on the board and you also have linear power supply (using large transformer) for the power amplifier section.
BTW, your pictures are not very clear, they look kind of haze.

I dont have any DCV of green LYTICS cap,
Yes I plugged the power supply 230v and also a large transformer.

Re: Subwoofer auto on/off: Taga Harmony Platinum SW-10 v.2

So you changed a bunch of caps on the boards?
The green cap is now black 1000uf 25VDC.
You also changed the 4.7uf 450VDC caps (red), so what is the DCV between the + &- legs of that 4.7uf 450VDC caps? Around 330VDC?
BTW, you should clean off those flux from the board so I can see the traces better.
And what is the history of this unit? it just failed by itself?

Re: Subwoofer auto on/off: Taga Harmony Platinum SW-10 v.2

Yes i replaced this caps, and the DCV is around 320VDC.
It worked fine, but I decided to change all amplifiers F4558 I had the feeling that he was losing power. I ordered new NE5532 and after receipt I installed on board but the subwoofer has not turned on. There is no characteristic "click".

So before replacing the caps and the OPAMPs, the unit was working?
Right now that SMPS power supply is not working and the relay need the Voltage from that SMPS supply for it to function.
BTW, I do not believe you will hear much difference in sound using 5532 because we are dealing with low frequency below 200Hz, what will make difference is the stiffer power supply Voltage rails when loud low frequency is being pumped out.

Yes its working, but it seemed to me that he had no power, Now I have a subwoofer speaker connected directly to the right front channel in the amplifier, and plays better than the original sub amplifier.

Well, if it was working before modification then you should clean the board real well so you can see if there is any solder bridges or broken traces, etc.

Another thing you can test is the resistance reading between the two legs of that 1000uF 25V cap to see if it shows <100 Ohms.

I would get the spec sheet of the SMPS IC and then check the DCV of all SMPS IC with ref to the negative GND leg of the main filer cap in the hot side to see what you get.

Per spec sheet of the SMPS IC LNK614, pin 2 functions are:
                                    BYPASS/MULTI-FUNCTIONAL PROGRAMMABLE (BP/M) Pin:
                                    This pin has multiple functions:
                                    1. It is the connection point for an external bypass capacitor for
the internally generated 6 V supply.

                                    2. It is a mode selection for the cable drop compensation for
                                    LNK61X series.

You have just about nothing on that pin so it can be that there shorted/low resistance between pin 2 and GND or internal failure of the IC. So check the resistance of that pin 2 of the IC.

I'm having a problem with my subwoofer that I'm attempting to fix. The thing is that the timeout for auto switch-off is just about 1 minute. As you can imagine, it switches off and on quite frequently during TV programs and even movies.

I already tried increasing the sub volume in my AVR, but that didn't help. Even setting the sub at +10db and the main speakers at -10db doesn't help. The timeout delay of 1 minute is just too short, as there are many movies and TV programs that don't send low frequencies for this amount of time interval. I also tested different cables.

I already sent the sub back to the manufacturer, but the guy in charge said that after testing it, their conclusion was that the problem is my AVR. I don't agree.

The sub in particular is a Taga Harmony Platinum SW-10 v.2. The manual has about 2 pages without any schematics.

I'm good at technology in general but not particularly in electronic design and repair. So here's my thought process and pictures I took after opening the sub.

On the PCB I can see a bordered area marked "Caution, High voltage". On the border at that area is a relay, it looks like it's connecting the main board with the high voltage area. My common sense says that this relay must be the one taking care of the auto-standby.

On the low voltage side of the relay:
                                        - one pin goes to a transistor of which I think one leg is connected to GND
                                        - other pin goes to a 47 Ohm resistor and then a cap of 330 uF.

I was thinking of replacing the 330 uF cap with a 680 uF cap (biggest electrolytic cap I could find with the same diameter, which is 8mm) but I would 1) really need a second opinion on this because I'm just guessing here really and 2) if that would double the standby timeout from one to two minutes, that still may not be enough.

                                        Specs of the relay:
                                        cirrus logic
                                        jzc-32f
                                        005HS

Hello, I have recently purchased this subwoofer and I'd like to know your suggestions and opinions. How does this sound? The specs sheet says it can go down to 20Hz, does it sound good at 25-30Hz? I have preferred this sub over Polk Audio and Wharfedale. Thank you.
