Recommendation for a Power Supply for Testing

    Hi,

Can anyone recommend a variable power supply for testing. Something simple.

First, what are your requirements (or primary uses) for such a unit?
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

      Hi Japlytic,

Well, to be honest I removed the car stereo from my vehicle because I am not getting any sound out of the Left Front Driver side speaker. I would like to be able to run the car stereo out of the vehicle and test the outputs but need a way to power it.

Unfortunately I have a bigger problem as I cannot find a wiring diagram for this unit so not even sure where to connect the power for the 12v DC.

I think I could just use a 12v battery, but again how would you figure out which pin to put the power to?

      Thanks

Any old PC PSU is capable to handle the load of 3-4A that you will have by setting the volume high.

About the wiring issue this is your business.
Possibly it would help to open it up and find the cables from inside, the Red one.

Usually going to the radio manufacturer webpage and getting an installation manual will do the trick on how to power the radio up.

I had purchase an power supply DPS-712M from Zurich brand for about 60$ to an electronic store. It's variable and it support max to 6A.

I use that for car radio, led projects, and its give you the AMPERS that it used for your project. A great investment.

Great for any 12V project. You can go up to 20V!

            That's the one i had.

Here in montreal in Canada, i found it at 59.99$ canadian. Check on local electronics store supply.

well, not to be an ass, but generally speaking, for us here on badcaps, it is more fun to make adjustable ATX mod, instead of buying another one.

              have recently finished one.
