    Caps in my computer

About two weeks ago, I decided to check the electrolytics in my system.

    * An Asus A9600XT video card with Sanyo electrolytics. It once gave a false core voltage reading, and is now fixed - perhaps from reseating the card?

    * An AVerMedia satellite tuner with CapXon electrolytics which were still good, used in the DC-DC step-up converter for the LNB voltages.

    * A Twinhan digital TV card with "REC" brand capacitors (most likely to be general purpose, but were not causing any trouble at all.

    * On the P4P800 Deluxe board, there were Nippon Chemi-Con capacitors near the CPU, with a few OST units, and a few GSC units (Fortunately not used near the CPU, but were used for bypassing, and probably used for audio as well).

The power supply (LC-B400ATX) is mentioned elsewhere.

How good are the capacitors in your computer?
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

    Re: Caps in my computer

    My system:
GeForce FX5200: Sanyo lytics, with one Skywell 510uF 4v.
Dell Dimension 8300 board: Rubycon, Nichicon, Chemicon, with a few Fujitsu RE.
    Creative emu10k1: small G-Luxon.

    Systems I'm responsible for:
4x HP Brio PC uATX: Chemicon and some other brand I don't remember.
2x Asus P4B533: Chemicon and Rubycon, with some OST.
    The great capacitor showdown!

OST's are crap, period. Shame on Asus for using them. I have a an Asus P4C800 (I think thats it) sitting at the shop packed with bad OST's.

      My personal system:
      Supermicro X5DAL-TG2 - All Sanyo/Nippon caps!
ATI 9800 AIW Retail - I never really looked at it, but the original ATI retails are well built.
Zippy Double redundant 800W PSU - Never had it apart, so I dont know. I'll make a note of it next time I dust out the system. Zippy makes a kick ass PSU, so they can't be too bad.

L&C LC-B400ATX? Those are bad 400W power supplies! Look at the very low-quality internals of one:

The capacitors in my system? Here they are:

PCCHIPS M955G Motherboard: All caps are made by OST, still not one bad!
Enermax 300W PSU: All caps are made by PCE-TUR, still not one bad!
XFX FX 5500 Video Card: One Sanyo OS-CON, rest Evercon caps, still not one bad!
5-Port USB 2.0 PCI Card: All caps are generic, still not one bad!
        My gaming PC:
        AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition 3.3GHz Six-Core CPU (Socket AM3)

Newbie2, can you post some pics of PCE-TUR caps? We don't have any on the forum IIRC.

I now have two guys who use crappy PCE-TUR capacitors, Enermax and PC Power & Cooling! I have saw some PCE-TUR caps in a Bestec PSU, so that makes three!

I've checked caps in my PC today:
Asus P2B board - Rubycon and Sanyo
PowerColor AR2L Radeon 9100 - Panasonic through-hole and unknown SMD caps
DTK PTP-3007 PSU - CapXon (the big ones), G-Luxon (outpout filtering) and those (J)PCE-TUR (some of the other) - no problems with any of them - I like these PSUs as the construction is good and fan quiet
                      (anyone seen bad (J)PCE-TUR cap?)

looks like the vent wasnt stamped right so they blew their bottoms out.
