    Samsung 244T buzz

    Hi every one !

I own a nice 244T that is now 5/6 years old. It is still working beautifully, aprat from the humming noise that is now as loud as the PC itself (but mine is quiet…)

I stumbled onto this forum, knowing in the back of my mind that it would probably have something to do with old caps.

Now, do you think this is worth it:

Nichicon capacitors. THey do not mention anything about low ESR…
Has anyone already have experience with such kits ?

Kits are only as good as the seller - many fakes on ebay- sometimes the seller doesnt even know - he has just bought in bulk off someone else.
Have you priced them up on this site
    https://www.badcaps.net/store/

    Or at RSonline electronics

      Hi selldoor, and thanks !
Mmmhhh, I can't find the exact same references there.
I will have a look at your other site.

Do you know a particularly good brand of Caps ? I only know Dubilier.
Aparently ESR is of paramount importance. Do you know of a particular series of caps that exhibit nice and low ESR ?

We tend to suggest panasonic FR FM and FC FR are best and usually
most expensive. They dont make all uf and v in each series and physical size.
No good buying a great quality cap if it wont fit.
        This is the other site

A number of members in europe have used them there is also digikey and mouser.

          OK, thanks selldoor.
I'll try to find that particular brand then. But for the moment i can bear the humming noise. At times it really gets on my nerves though, so a small recap wouldn't hurt !

I guess I have to open the monitor first to make sure that I need the same caps as the one stated in these offers: maybe models vary a bit…

          Cheers

            Hi There,

So, done. I've done the complete recap, with Panasonic caps.
            Every single ones.

But… no change at all: the humming noise is still here, maybe worse than before…
            Very disappointed.

I have kept the old ones in a bag, just to make sure if anything went wrong.

Maybe i should run the monitor with the cas off, just to locate the source of the buzz with my bionic ears… ?

Hi yes good idea- we recommend a hitech listening device - the centre from a kitchen paper roll or a rolled up cereal box

Does the voice change slightly when moving a mouse (like a maniac or scrolling a web page using right side scrollbar) ? If so, the reason might be a small smd power coil on video board. I have 245B, and by a coil change to better quality one I got rid of that kind of noise. Physical size of the replacement coil was also bigger but not much (very limited space there).

If you know the product code of power board (or other board), it's easier to find/get help..searching only by monitor name is often not enough efficient.

About 245b I can tell that it's not totally silent. Transformers etc. make some noise, which is normal.
