LCD dell E196FPb blown fuse, no power

    Hello to everybody,
suddenly without warning the monitor is off and give no more signs of life,
removing the power board I saw that the fuse was blown and after replaced it burned again; it seems to be a short circuit, all capacitors seems OK except the largest 450V that has a leak along a contact.
Someone has any ideas of which component could be broken and causes the fuse to blow.
I enclose a photo of the power board(sorry for the big photos I do'nt know how to reduce).
Thanks to all those who want to give me some suggestions.
    Bye Wave.

That big main filter needs to be replaced for sure, you need to check the MOSFET 3-PIN device mounted on the heatsink to see if it has S to D low resistance (look up the spec to get the pin out of the MOSFET), then check the bridge rectifier to see if it is not shorted either.

Hello BUDM, thank you for the reply,
can you please indicate to me the bridge rectifier and how to check it; is it possible tocheck the mosfet and the bridge without desoldering them from the board.
Last question: is there any possibylity to solve only by changing the 450V Capacitor or the shortcircuit is certainly caused from the others components...sorry if it seems a stupid question, I am really a newby...
      Thank you so much

Re: LCD dell E196FPb blown fuse, no power

The shorted circuit was probably caused by fail filter cap so it has lot AC instead of DC feeding the circuit, so when the MOSFET failed as shorted circuit, it may have taken out the Bridge rectifier, the SMPS IC that drive the MOSFET. So you can have lots of damaged components on that board.
You can do the search on how to test bridge rectifier, how to test MOSFET.
Testing the SMPS IC will be more difficult.
You can check the suspected components first to see if it shows low resistance, if it does, then you will remove them and test it again off the board.
I hope you do have proper tools to do the works properly. if you do not have proper tools then you should look to see how much the replacement board will be comparing to the parts needed.

          Thank you so much BUDM,
you was quite clear and exaustive.
I will try to control all advices components and decide what to do.
          Bye, Wave.

Re: LCD dell E196FPb blown fuse, no power

hello I am also a newbie here but I cannot post any new topic. I have a related problem with Dell E197FP. One time the LCD monitor went off and never powered back. I tried to open the monitor and found the fuse got blown. So I replaced the fuse but after few seconds (maybe 5 seconds or less) the monitor displayed the DELL sign/logo then again the fuse got blown off. I am sure there is a short circuit somewhere but I am a newbie and hoping you could help me where to check first. I have a DMM and a soldering equipment only.

the fuse is color brown near the AC input socket which has a white glue.
