Sanyo DP46849 Won't Power up

    Sanyo DP46849 Won't Power up

    Hello all

    I have a Sanyo DP46849 LCD TV which will not power up. The pwr supply has 5V and the green light will come on when the "on" button is pressed, but the screen remains dark. Passing 5V to the BL ON line causes the backlights to flicker, but they will not "come on", suggesting a safety shutdown (?).

    Does this sound like bad caps on the power supply or is there something more ominous at work here?

    Any input would be welcome!

    1) Ask the moderators to move your thread to

    Troubleshooting TVs and Video Sources

    2) We will require clear focused top down view/picture of all your boards. See my sig file below for instructions.

    3) If your backlights are shutting off, you could have one or more of the following

    a) open fuse especially if there is more than one fuse on the inverter board
    b) bad caps on inverter board
    c) unstable power from power supply
    d) a transfomer secondary winding that is bad
    e) bad ccfl or wiring
    f) a transistor or mosfet that is shorted

    A, c, d, and f are easily tested with a multimeter. B can be tested with an ESR meter. E is a bit trickier to test.
