    dell d620 usb flash drive not working

    i have dell latitude d620. every thing is ok but flash drive or memory card reader not working on it.
    even external keyboard and mouse works fine on usb ports.
    i have disassemble the system remove all extra things like smart card and WiFi card modem but the problem is still there..
    usb voltages are fine 5.0
    if any one as idea about this problem plz guide me..

    Boot from a Linux live cd like Puppy and check to see if the flash drive works. That will rule out a driver issue if an external keyboard and mouse work on it.

      i tried from hiren boot cd..
      problem was same usb flash drive not detected ..
      even system is unable to boot from a boot able usb flash drive..
      i select boot from usb at 1st priority from BIOS but it doesnt work
      in start up boot menu system doesnt shows usb boot option..

        Flash BIOS. If it still doesn't work i would suspect the southbridge. Although rare, they do fail in weird ways sometimes.
