I find out from my friend who knew 500SC stuff told me it only supports server OSes due to odd hardware and a look through Dell driver support produced no XP pro stuff. So I changed track and looked at some Xeon and they are reasonable cost still for older stuff. Switching to "workstation".
Some socket 771 boards use FB-DIMM, minus or pluses (I read the wiki about it but I wanted your actual experiences.)
CPUS Xeon choices:
Xeon 5160 "Woodcrest" (based on core 2) 3GHz 4MB, inexpensive socket 771.
Xeon 7140M "Tulsa" based on P4 design and have *massively* 16MB cache. socket 604. But being P4 design would there be any issues with that? Somewhat cheap.
And these do support XP Pro. Comments?
Cheers, Wizard
