Re: Arcade games and bad caps...

Got hold of this arcade main unit yesterday, is's a Konami DDR board with the pcmcia card and cdrom.
I did notice only Rubycon and Matsushita caps, all rated for 85 degree.

Anyone know how to check if this thing is working ? 12V or 24V ? how many amps ?

    Is this 15KHz or 31KHz vga ?

Made an account at arcade-museum but my account have not been approved yet.

Looks like this unit is 15KHz, can do a scart workaround to see if it works. Also found the blue security cassette so now this is complete.

Don't know about traditional (electromechanical) one-arm bandits, but just about all video machines are generally similar to arcade machines. Most games will remember credits, accounting data and the last few games/hands played, while some will also replay right up to the user's last button press if it was in the middle of a game (for example, half way through a poker hand or a set of free games, or even a double up or win that hasn't been taken yet). I had a brand new Konami slot reboot on me last month at Crown Casino, immediately after cashing out a ticket (which was rendered invalid as the machine hadn't verified it due to crashing, and I had to go to the cashier to redeem it since the gaming machines and ticket readers all rejected it).
